Coracle Europe Literary Residency 2017
There is more than a whiff of academia about the fourth annual Coracle Europe Literary residency. While the writers who will gather at Kraftwerket this year work in various genres there is a particular focus about poetry. Another common factor is that all the residency participants are creative exponents of higher education to the world’s next graduate generation. The residents are lecturers from universities in Canada, Sweden, Wales and Ireland. It may be thought that these mutual shared interests may lead the creative outcomes from the residency to follow a certain direction but we have learned that the most consistent elements of the literary residencies have been spontaneity and collaboration resulting in exciting and unexpected results.
To further stimulate the creative senses as well as responding to each other’s cultural differences and the identity of the town of Tranås the residents may wish to consider the work of Franz Kafka as an additional factor as the town exhibition inspired by his literature. In the 21st century how Kafkaesque are our Higher Education institutions?
