Mel Perry
Mel Perry was born and brought up in the beautiful Welsh county of Pembrokeshire. After studying in London and Leeds in England, she moved back in the early 1980s to work and raise a family in the neighbouring and equally beautiful Welsh county of Carmarthenshire. Mel is inspired by a range of interests which serve as hooks for her poetry. With birds and plants in the natural world, atmospheres of buildings, and the sounds of the train across the estuary form her home village, Mel has built up a body of work that speaks of love, loss and renewal. Mel is a regular reader at local spoken word events. She has been known to retell in poetry the stories of performances at these events. Mel has had three short stories and some poetry published in local journals. She is to develop her writing and performance techniques and to find inspiration in the work of other writers.
